Remembering Things Again

Yesterday, I went to my dad’s house two hours south of me for his 50th birthday.  My broth and sister came as well and it was so good to see my family.

We visited my grandpa and my aunt happened to be there as well.  She had picked off all the grapes from my grandma’s old grapevine and was going to make jelly like grandma used to.  She had my grandma’s recipe book on the table.  I have never actually seen the book, but looking at it brought back memories.  The picture above is of the page in the book on how to make grape jelly.  My grandma was too sweet and this reminded me so much of her.  I was happy to see her handwriting again and to see the pictures she so carefully pasted inside the book. I love how she did so many things the long way :) I’ll probably never be patient enough to make grape jelly.

It’s strange losing someone and even stranger to remember them years later with something so simple as a recipe book.  It’s difficult losing anyone.  I miss my grandmas and can’t believe they are both gone.  They were totally different from one another, but sweet and beautiful in their own ways.  

On a happier note, my brother, sister, and I decided to recreate an old picture we had taken 21 years ago.  Here’s the original picture:

We improvised with a lot of it. We didn’t have a blue blanket, but used this weird sheet instead.  My brother and I couldn’t find any clothes besides these that even resembled the originals.  I’m not turned enough, but I couldn’t see without my glasses.  Anyway, I think it turned out really well and is quite hilarious :) I love my brother and sister.  We have always all been close and have so much fun when we’re together.
